Krogers “Advantage Checkout” Test

Kroger appears to be targeting a new level of customer service by taking advantage of new technology. I recently posted about an “in-aisle” pay system they are testing. They have also tested a system for checking out that involves your items being scanned by one of twelve scanners as they ride the check-out belt through a check-out tunnel and eventually get routed through one of two lanes to their end destination. Having two lanes at the end of the belt/tunnel allows a 2nd customer to begin sending their items through while the 1st customer is bagging their items. Here is a video showing how it works.
